Two comments if I might. First, has anyone noticed that the FT-100 is noisy when it is first turned on in cold weather? Not a big problem and it settles down in a couple of minutes.

Much bigger problem. That ATAS antenna is a terrible design for cold weather areas! It has a tendency to freeze up at 15 degrees F or below. A problem known to Yaesu who really doesn't care. Their suggestion was to drive to Florida and work dx from there. I would strongly recommend that any northerner consider a different product.
